11.3 Index card &ldquo;Ink Counters&ldquo;</H2>

<P class="western">TurboPrint calculates how much ink is used for every
 printout. As ink droplets are counted, this cannot be converted into
 mililiters of ink. However the ink consumption values can be used to
 compare how much ink is consumed of each color and to evaluate the
 effect of any ink saving measures.</P>
<P class="western">This index card shows the ink consumption values of
 the last printout and total values of all previous printouts.</P>
<P class="western">Set the switch &ldquo;Show Counters&rdquo; to &ldquo;Last Job&rdquo; if you
 want to see the values of the last job printed &ndash; consider that the job
 must have been finished completely before these numbers will be
 available. The job state is indicated on index card &ldquo;Info&rdquo;.</P>
<P class="western">The &ldquo;Total&rdquo; option shows the total ink counters of
 all previous jobs.</P>
<P class="western">You can reset the ink counters with the TurboPrint
 control center program (button &ldquo;Edit&rdquo; printer 
&rarr; switch &ldquo;Reset ink counters now&rdquo;),</P>

<P class="western">If you activate the &ldquo;Print Simulation&rdquo; option, the
 next document is only processed but not actually printed. Thus you can
 get a projection of the ink consumption with different settings without
 wasting ink and paper. The &ldquo;Print Simulation&rdquo; option is automatically
 disabled after the next print job.</P>

You can use the ink counter values for optimizing your print settings.
 This is especially interesting when a printer is using combined color
 cartridges (one cartridge containing three or more different inks). The
 total ink counter values show which color will run out first &ndash; so you
 can react and reduce the consumption of this color with TurboPrint's
 ink control settings (see &ldquo;<A class="western" href="8-5.html#8.5.Index card &bdquo;Ink Ctrl&ldquo;|outline">
8.5 Index card &bdquo;Ink Ctrl&ldquo;</A>). This helps to extend the cartridge life
 and avoids throwing away cartridges with half of the other inks left.</P>
